High Adventure outings are more demanding and exciting than
the usual outdoor program. These activities require
advanced
planning and preparation than the monthly
outdoor programs and are typically wilderness treks that challenge a
scout's skills, strength and willpower. The troop tries to
plan one High Adventure trip per year and typically requires
that Scouts to attain First Class rank to participate. The BSA
maintains three National High Adventure Bases: Philmont Scout
Ranch in New Mexico, the Florida National High Adventure Sea
Base, and the Northern Tier National High Adventure in Minnesota. For
more information on these programs, see the High
Adventure Trips on the Boy Scouts of
America web site.
